On March 22, 2026, the AIDAsol embarks on a 21-day transatlantic cruise. The 5,311-nautical-mile journey takes the ship from Martinique in the Caribbean all the way to the Hanseatic city of Hamburg. Such repositioning cruises are nautically and economically essential to prepare the fleet for the European summer season. Following a few stops in the Lesser Antilles, the ship will sail for six consecutive days across the ocean. The AIDAsol then navigates via Macaronesian islands like Gran Canaria and Madeira, along the Western European coast, and finally into the Elbe estuary. Whether looking out at the waves from the starboard or port side, the extended crossing offers plenty of time for relaxation at sea.

Thanks to modern Starlink internet connections, the demographics on board are currently shifting significantly. Alongside the traditional target audience, younger generations and digital nomads are increasingly using the crossing for a "workation." Since passengers are entirely focused on the ship's infrastructure during the sea days, revenue from wellness facilities and specialty restaurants rises considerably. This makes the voyage, with regular ticket prices ranging roughly from 1,550 euros to 3,750 euros, highly profitable for the cruise line.

Strategically, this crossing is of enormous importance for AIDA Cruises this year. Because the Middle East program for the 2026/2027 winter season was completely canceled due to the tense security situation in the Red Sea, the European and Atlantic routes must now compensate for these losses. Furthermore, the precisely timed arrival in Hamburg on April 12 is a critical factor. The AIDAsol will play a central role there in June 2026 during the large-scale celebrations for the fleet's 30th anniversary, culminating in a grand ship parade.

The future of the modified Sphinx-class ship, built in 2011, is also secured for the long term. To remain competitive and meet strict environmental regulations, the AIDAsol will undergo the "AIDA Evolution" program in Marseille in late 2027. During this extensive modernization, new luxurious suites will be installed at the stern, and energy efficiency will be massively improved. This ensures the ship will remain a technologically up-to-date and reliable part of the fleet well into the next decade.
