AIDAprima Ice Rink: Season Extended in Northern Europe until March 2026
AIDAprima’s technical infrastructure makes this extended winter operation possible. As a Hyperion-class ship, featuring a foil dome and weather-protected areas, she is perfectly equipped for cooler latitudes. The 200 m² ice rink on Deck 16 becomes the heart of the "Winter Magic" concept on both the starboard and port sides, including professional shows in cooperation with "Holiday on Ice."
The timing is particularly ideal for sports enthusiasts: the extension covers event cruises to winter sports highlights in Oslo. Guests on the short cruises for the Biathlon World Cup can enjoy their laps on the ice until the last full day of the voyage on March 21. The area will only be prepared for the spring season following the passenger changeover in Kiel.
This strategic decision takes advantage of the North Sea's climate in March, as the ice rink's cooling system operates much more energy-efficiently at low outdoor temperatures than in warmer regions. For AIDA Cruises, this marks a successful start to the 30th anniversary year in 2026, demonstrating how flexibly the cruise line responds to global challenges while enhancing the guest experience.
