AIDAprima Back in Kiel: Successful Finale of the Great Winter Break
The final stretch proved nautically demanding as Storm "Elli" brought heavy winds and high swells to the English Channel. To prioritize passenger safety, the planned call at Le Havre was canceled. However, thanks to its modern vertical bow and high-performance stabilizers, the ship navigated the Bay of Biscay with ease. The time gained from the canceled port call ensured that over 3,000 guests could begin their journey home on schedule via rail or car.
While winter temperatures gripped the mainland, passengers enjoyed a tropical atmosphere until the very last minute under the UV-permeable foil dome of the Beach Club. Logistically, the stop in Kiel was a massive operation: tons of fresh provisions were loaded through the shell doors while the ship utilized the port’s state-of-the-art shore power system to minimize emissions. Customs officials were also present, monitoring imports from the Canary Islands, which are treated as a non-EU territory for tax purposes.
By late afternoon on February 1, it was "lines away" once more as the ship headed for Aarhus. This departure kicked off the "Winter Magic" season, taking the AIDAprima to the great metropolises of the North. Joining the new voyage is a lineup of prominent guest performers, including Lucy Diakovska and Marijke Amado, ensuring top-tier entertainment as the ship sets course for Scandinavia.
