Crystal Cruises: Newbuild Revolution in the Luxury Segment
The new vessel will be built at the renowned Fincantieri shipyard in Italy. With 61,800 gross tons, the ship will accommodate just 690 passengers. This exceptional size-to-guest ratio ensures a maximum of space and comfort on board. All accommodations are designed as suites with private verandas, and there will even be a special cabin category for solo travelers. A particular highlight is the culinary offering: the ship will feature the only Nobu restaurant at sea, Umi Uma, as well as Riccardo Giraudi’s Beefbar concept and dishes from the famous Alajmo Brothers. Popular features from the existing ships, such as the full-circle promenade, will also be retained.
The partnership with the Fincantieri shipyard is strategically crucial. The long-standing, trusting relationship between the shipbuilder and Crystal Cruises' management, especially Executive Chairman Manfredi Lefebvre d'Ovidio, ensures a smooth process and minimizes the risk of delays. Specific dates are already set: the steel-cutting is planned for May 2026, with the keel-laying to follow in December 2026. The project's financing is also secured. An export credit facility backed by the Italian agency SACE and a broad international banking consortium provide a solid financial foundation.
Crystal Cruises leverages synergies with its sister company Abercrombie & Kent (A&K), an expert in luxury land travel. Future cruises will include exclusive land excursions curated by A&K. From private concerts to dinners at historic sites, passengers can look forward to unique, immersive experiences. This combination of a luxurious ship and first-class land programs is intended to appeal to a younger, discerning demographic that values authentic travel experiences. With this new build, Crystal Cruises is solidifying its market position and offering an exciting alternative for luxury travelers seeking something truly special.
