The ice rink is one of several winter attractions that make the AIDAprima particularly appealing for voyages in colder climates. The ship, which was designed for year-round operation, features other highlights such as the covered "Beach Club" and the "Four Elements" climbing paradise.
The route change from Dubai to Northern Europe was a necessary reaction to the uncertain geopolitical situation in the Middle East. Instead of the Orient program, AIDA Cruises is now offering attractive itineraries from Kiel and Hamburg that are perfectly suited for the advent season. For instance, the AIDAprima will be calling at festive Christmas markets and will spend Christmas in Stockholm for the first time.
The ice rink is approximately 200 square meters in size and will only be installed on the North Europe routes. During the subsequent voyages to the Canary Islands in January 2026, where temperatures are much milder, the ice fun will be suspended. This flexible approach demonstrates how AIDA adapts its onboard offerings to the specific weather conditions of each itinerary.
The official opening of the ice rink will take place on the five-day "Short trip to Scandinavian Christmas markets from Kiel." November 30, 2025, is a planned sea day—ideal for entertaining guests on board and celebrating the new attraction in style.
