Cruise without Alcohol: Carnival Cruise Line Launches New Drink Package
Christine Duffy, Carnival's president, stated that the package is designed to boost customer satisfaction by offering a diverse range of alcohol-free options. This shows that Carnival is taking its guests' changing needs seriously and adapting its offerings accordingly. The global trend towards a more conscious lifestyle, which has led to a rise in search queries for alcohol-free travel options, also played a role in the decision.
The “CHEERS! Zero Proof” package offers a wide range of beverages, including specialty coffees, teas, smoothies, mocktails, alcohol-free beer and sparkling wine, and energy drinks. Unlike à la carte purchases, this package allows travelers to enjoy their favorite drinks all day without constantly worrying about the prices.
Priced at $29.99 per person per day when booked before the cruise, the package serves as a price bridge between the simple “Bottomless Bubbles” soda package and the more expensive, alcohol-inclusive “CHEERS!” package. Passengers who only occasionally drink a few specialty coffees or smoothies can quickly benefit financially from this offer, as the à la carte price is often higher.
Another notable advantage is the flexible cabin policy. While all adults in a cabin must purchase the alcoholic “CHEERS!” package if one person does, this rule does not apply to the alcohol-free version. This makes the package particularly attractive for couples or groups where not everyone wants to drink alcohol. Carnival is thus reacting to the stricter policies of some competitors, such as Royal Caribbean, who often require all adults in a cabin to buy the same package.
Passenger reactions to the new offering have been overwhelmingly positive. The growing "Sober Community" in particular welcomes the comprehensive package as an important step towards inclusion. Although there is also some criticism of the package terms and pricing, the introduction of “CHEERS! Zero Proof” solidifies Carnival's reputation as an innovative and customer-oriented company. The new package is a smart move that not only meets the wishes of its guests but could also attract new target groups on board.
