MSC Cruises has recently ordered two more ships for its World Class fleet, a strategic decision that goes far beyond a typical fleet expansion. The ships, provisionally named World Class V and World Class VI, are set to be delivered in 2029 and 2030 and will be built by the French shipyard Chantiers de l'Atlantique.

This significant investment of 3.5 billion euros demonstrates MSC's confidence in its growth strategy and the future of the cruise market. The ships will be powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), which significantly reduces emissions. They will also feature other advanced technologies, such as shore power connections and innovative wastewater treatment systems.

With these new vessels, MSC aims to strengthen its presence in the North American market. The size and amenities of the World Class ships will allow them to directly compete with Royal Caribbean's mega-ships for the first time. This move underscores MSC's ambition to actively shape the future of cruising by combining expansion with a strong focus on sustainability.
