A fatal swimming accident occurred on the Greek island of Milos last Friday, August 8, 2025, claiming the lives of two cruise passengers. According to local media reports, the deceased were a married couple from Vietnam, aged 64 and 65. The woman fell into the water amid rough conditions, and her husband's attempt to rescue her tragically resulted in both of their deaths.

The incident took place at Sarakiniko Beach, a popular tourist destination known for its striking rock formations and turquoise waters. However, in strong winds with high waves and currents, the conditions in the water can become extremely dangerous, which proved fatal for the couple.

Several private boats rushed to the scene to assist, but were only able to recover the bodies. The remains were then transported to a local health center, where the deaths of the two tourists were officially confirmed.

At the time of the accident, the Celestyal Journey was the only cruise ship in Milos. It is therefore believed that the victims were guests of this ship, operated by the Cypriot shipping company Celestyal Cruises. The ship continued its journey to Piraeus and is now on a subsequent voyage to the Adriatic Sea.
