Following the float-out, the Disney Destiny will remain at the outfitting pier for the next five weeks. During this period, interior work will continue to finalize the guest and crew areas. Simultaneously, crucial technical tests on systems like the engines and propulsion will be conducted. This marks the final phase of construction for the Disney Destiny.
The ship's final sea trials are scheduled for mid-September after its transfer down the Ems River to the North Sea, where its seaworthiness will be tested. Once the cruise line has successfully inspected and accepted all areas of the ship, it will be officially handed over. The maiden voyage is planned for November 20, 2025, departing from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, after a transatlantic crossing without passengers.
Future Projects at Meyer Werft
It will be some time before the next cruise ship is floated out, as Meyer Werft has no new ships scheduled for completion in 2026. The next vessels to leave the shipyard will be the Carnival Festivale for Carnival Cruise Line and a fourth new Wish-class vessel for Disney Cruise Line, both in 2027. Construction of the fourth sister ship to the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and Disney Destiny has already begun with the official steel cutting.
