The Disney Destiny is the third vessel of its class built at Meyer Werft, following the Disney Wish in 2022 and the Disney Treasure in 2024. The next phase involves completing the interior outfitting. The shipyard and its partners are working diligently to deliver the new build to their important client, Disney Cruise Line, on schedule. The maiden voyage is set for November 20, 2025, departing from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, after the ship's transatlantic crossing without guests.
As always, the exact timing for the undocking is subject to weather conditions. Strong crosswinds could prevent tugboats from safely maneuvering the large cruise ship out of the dry dock. The same applies to the planned Ems River conveyance in the second half of September, for which the specific date has not yet been announced. Following the transfer to the North Sea, the ship will undergo extensive sea trials before its final delivery.
After the Disney Destiny, it will be some time before another large cruise ship leaves the Meyer Werft dock. The shipyard has no cruise ship orders scheduled for 2026. The next cruise ship, the Carnival Festivale, is not expected to be delivered until early 2027. A sister ship to the Disney Destiny—the fourth Wish-class new build—officially started construction today, August 8, 2025, with the steel-cutting ceremony and is scheduled to follow in the second half of 2027.
