This initiative follows a major refurbishment already completed in 2023 and will focus on areas not previously addressed. The goal is to further solidify the Crystal Symphony's position as a leading vessel in the global luxury cruise segment.
New Design for Suites and Public Areas
A key focus of the renovation will be the Aquamarine and Sapphire Classic suites on Deck 10. The renowned De Wave Group from Genoa, Italy, has been commissioned for their redesign. While the proven layout of the suites, which includes a spacious bathroom with a shower and a separate bathtub, will be retained, the rooms will feature entirely new furniture, elegant carpets, and sophisticated wall paneling.
The public areas will also see significant enhancements. The Atrium will be rearranged to better position the grand piano, create additional seating, and showcase a large mosaic by DeCastelli in a new location. A fresh ambiance will also be introduced to the Crystal Cove lounge bar on Deck 5, the stairways on Decks 5 and 6, the Starlite Club with its dance floor, and the popular Bistro.
"With this work, we are driving innovation and reinforcing everything that defines Crystal," stated Bernie Leypold, Senior Vice President of Hotel Operations at Crystal. "Every space on our ships should combine thoughtful design with warmth and elegance, feeling both timeless and modern. The modernization of the Crystal Symphony underscores our commitment to creating meaningful experiences everywhere on board."
Technical Upgrades and a Focus on Sustainability
Behind the scenes, a comprehensive technical upgrade will take place. A key component is the installation of fuel and oil purification systems, which will make the Crystal Symphony ready for the use of more environmentally friendly biodiesel. Additionally, the entire freshwater piping system will be renewed, and the stabilizer hydraulics will be overhauled. Other important work includes the modernization of the ship's galleys, cold storage, and storerooms, as well as the replacement of steel elements, such as the fuel tanks.
New Itineraries After the Modernization
Immediately following its time in the shipyard, the Crystal Symphony will depart from Lisbon on November 26, 2025, for its second "Wellness Retreat" voyage of the year. The route will travel along the West African coast to Cape Town. This journey will also feature the premiere of "Club Night," a show developed exclusively for Crystal. The ship will then spend the following weeks in Africa and the Indian Ocean with voyages from Mombasa, Mumbai, and Mahé, before setting course for the Far East in mid-February 2026.
