Virgin Voyages: Celebrating Milestones in Iceland and with the New Brilliant Lady
With the inaugural call of the Scarlet Lady in Iceland this past Sunday, August 3, 2025, the company has established its presence in a new, strategically important destination. The ship docked in the port of Akureyri, underscoring the success of Virgin Voyages' strategy to enter new markets through intensive and appealing itineraries. The Scarlet Lady's current route also includes a stop in Isafjördur and a multi-day stay with an overnight in the capital, Reykjavik.
In parallel with this expansion into Nordic waters, the new addition to the fleet, the Brilliant Lady, is nearing its commissioning in early September. Final work on the newbuild was recently completed at the Fincantieri shipyard in Palermo. The ship is currently undertaking a series of inaugural sailings towards the UK and Lisbon. Part of these preparations includes a special four-day voyage for the crew themed "The Virgin Way." This trip is designed to strengthen team cohesion and promote creativity and corporate culture. Virgin Voyages emphasizes that the crew is the foundation of its success and that such initiatives ensure employees feel empowered to deliver exceptional service.
The official maiden voyage of the Brilliant Lady is scheduled for September 3, 2025, departing from New York City. During its inaugural season, the ship will serve four key U.S. markets on "coast-to-coast" itineraries: New York, Miami, Los Angeles, and Seattle. A special premiere is also announced for 2026: the Brilliant Lady will be the first ship in the Virgin Voyages fleet to set course for Alaska.
In response to the growing demand for more extensive sea voyages, Virgin Voyages has also expanded its offerings. Newly added to the schedule are seven-day Caribbean cruises from Miami to meet guests' desires for longer vacation experiences.
