The Cruise Terminals in Kiel
Passengers should confirm in advance which terminal their ship is departing from. Kiel has two main docking facilities:
- Ostseekai: This terminal is very centrally located, just about two kilometers from the main train station, and can be reached on foot or via a short taxi ride.
- Ostuferhafen: Situated approximately 7.5 kilometers from the main train station, this berth is located a bit further from the city center.
The respective cruise line always informs its guests about the correct ship berth in the travel documents ahead of time.
Traffic Disruption Due to Construction from July 25-28, 2025
Travelers arriving by car for the Ostseekai terminal must be aware of a significant traffic change during this weekend. Due to construction work, Kaistraße will be completely closed in the section between the main train station and the Ostseekai terminal from July 25 to July 28, 2025, inclusive.
This closure is expected to lead to increased traffic volume throughout the Kiel city area, which may also affect the approach via the A215 motorway. Appropriate diversions will be signposted locally. It is strongly recommended to allow significantly more time than usual for your arrival to ensure you reach the ship on time. AIDA Cruises explicitly advises its guests that their booked arrival time slots must be adhered to despite the circumstances.
The following ship departures are affected by the closure:
- Friday, July 25, 2025: Mein Schiff 1
- Saturday, July 26, 2025: AIDAnova
- Saturday, July 26, 2025: Vasco da Gama
Proactive travel planning is essential this weekend to begin your cruise in a relaxed manner.
