For the implementation of the project in the village of Vankarajukaluva, the Rostock-based cruise line worked closely with its long-standing partner, the Reiner Meutsch Foundation FLY & HELP. The newly created facility is designed as a special needs school and includes a modern classroom, a room for mothers, a kitchen, as well as necessary sanitary facilities and a veranda.
This project is the latest in a long line of successes: it is one of now more than 70 schools in emerging and developing countries built with funds from AIDA Cruise & Help. The initiative focuses its efforts on sustainably improving educational opportunities for young people. A special emphasis is placed on the home countries of international crew members and on destinations regularly visited by the AIDA fleet.
The commitment to global education projects continues steadfastly this year. Various fundraising activities are taking place on board all eleven ships of the fleet, known for the iconic kissing lips on their bows, to collect further donations for school construction worldwide.
