Beyond its expertise in constructing modern river cruise vessels, the shipyard also fabricates highly complex floating engine room modules for cruise ships, primarily for MEYER WERFT and other clients. Its specialized knowledge extends to the design of special vessels such as ferries, gas tankers, and research ships. Currently, NEPTUN WERFT is actively preparing to enter the converter platform segment, underscoring its adaptability and forward-thinking approach.
Bernd Eikens, CEO of MEYER WERFT, acknowledges the significance of the anniversary: “For 175 years, NEPTUN WERFT has symbolized maritime strength and continuous technological advancement. Its role within the MEYER WERFT Group is of central importance – not only due to its industrial competence but also its deep regional roots. I extend my heartfelt congratulations on this special anniversary and eagerly anticipate our continued collaborative ventures.”
Since its integration into the MEYER WERFT Group in 1997, NEPTUN WERFT has consistently invested in advanced production facilities and optimized its processes. A forward-looking step was the introduction of the 35-hour work week in 2024, setting new industry standards. The shipyard is currently involved in collaborations for the construction of offshore facilities, particularly converter platforms, and is driving the development of climate-neutral technologies, for instance, through research projects in fuel cell technology.
Stephan Schmees, CEO of NEPTUN WERFT, emphasizes the company's core values: “175 years of NEPTUN WERFT stand for innovation, adaptability, and the exceptional commitment of our entire workforce. We are immensely proud of our past and look to the future with great optimism.”
Anniversary celebrations are scheduled for summer 2025 at the shipyard’s Rostock location. A ceremonial gala on June 28, 2025, will bring together figures from business, politics, and society. Simultaneously, all employees and their families are invited to a family day on the same date at the shipyard premises to collectively commemorate this historic milestone.
