The ship, commissioned in 2018, spent the past winter season in the Caribbean, operating on the "Best of Central America" route. Following this, several voyages were undertaken in the Western Mediterranean. The repositioning cruise to Northern Germany commenced on May 16, 2025, from Palma de Mallorca, calling at the ports of Cadiz, Lisbon, Leixões (near Porto), Ferrol, and Le Havre before reaching Hamburg. From the Elbe metropolis, Mein Schiff 1 continues its current journey via Kristiansand in Norway and Copenhagen in Denmark, before arriving in Kiel.
This year, Mein Schiff 1 will call at the Port of Hamburg only once more. This second visit is scheduled for August 25, 2025, and will also mark the end of the ship's 2025 Northern Europe season. Immediately afterward, a 15-day transatlantic voyage will begin. This passage will take the vessel via Bergen and Molde in Norway, Reykjavik in Iceland, and Sydney and Halifax in Canada, to Bayonne, near New York City in the United States. Several cruises along the US East Coast are planned for the autumn.
Over the next three months, Kiel in Schleswig-Holstein will serve as the homeport for Mein Schiff 1, where it will operate alongside its sister ship, Mein Schiff 7. Most of Mein Schiff 1's summer cruises, primarily to destinations in the Baltic Sea, will begin and end at the Ostseekai terminal on the Kiel Fjord.
