A central area, the Grand Hall (the atrium), is thematically inspired by Marvel Studios' "Black Panther" films. Passengers are intended to be immersed in a world of heroic and villainous characters from the moment they board. While the Grand Hall exudes a welcoming atmosphere during the day, advanced technology allows it to transform into a mysterious realm. Using 360-degree light projections, the space can react to the presence of specific figures from the Disney and Marvel universes.
Last summer, the cruise line announced plans for a Broadway-style stage adaptation of "Hercules" aboard the Disney Destiny. The show, featuring iconic songs like "Go the Distance," "Zero to Hero," and "I Won’t Say I’m in Love," will premiere at sea. The storyline closely follows the style of the Disney animated film. "Disney’s Hercules" was developed specifically for the Disney Destiny and will complement the entertainment lineup, which also includes "Frozen, A Musical Spectacular" and "Disney Seas the Adventure."
Another new area being introduced is "The Sanctum," inspired by Doctor Strange's New York Sanctum Sanctorum. This centrally located venue is set to offer entertainment throughout the voyage, along with special food and beverage menus. Guests of all ages can enjoy a selection of mocktails, cocktails, spirits, and coffee specialties. The cruise line highlights the art of mixology with unique table-side experiences and menus thematically hinting at other universes.
Construction of the Disney Destiny is currently progressing in the covered building dock at Meyer Werft in Papenburg. The float-out, conveyance down the Ems River, and subsequent sea trials in the North Sea are scheduled for the summer. The ship's handover to Disney Cruise Line is planned for autumn this year. Its first official passenger voyage is set to commence on November 14, 2025, from Fort Lauderdale, USA. From there, the Disney Destiny will operate four- and five-day short cruises to the Caribbean during its inaugural winter 2025/26 season.
The Disney Destiny is the third ship in the Wish class, following the Disney Wish (entered service in 2022) and the Disney Treasure (entered service in 2024). A fourth vessel of this series (delivery in 2027) and another for the Japanese Disney licensee Oriental Land (delivery in 2028) are also on order from Meyer Werft. Following this, Disney Cruise Line plans to take delivery of three more new builds of a new, slightly smaller ship class from Papenburg, with annual deliveries from 2029 to 2031. These extensive orders underscore Disney Cruise Line's significance as one of Meyer Werft's key clients.
