On this evening, the new ship will be joined in the port of Malaga by its sister ships, Mein Schiff 5 and Mein Schiff 7. Consequently, it is expected that over 5,000 guests of the cruise line will witness the ship's christening. Attendees will also include invited business partners and media representatives covering the event. Mein Schiff 5 and Mein Schiff 7 will already be on special voyages themed around the christening at that time. The christening voyage for Mein Schiff Relax itself will commence on April 7th or 8th, 2025, from Palma de Mallorca.
Scheduled Events on Christening Day (April 9, 2025) in Malaga:
- 08:00: Arrival of Mein Schiff 5
- 09:00: Arrival of Mein Schiff 7
- 17:00: Arrival of Mein Schiff Relax
- 17:00: Admission begins for the christening concert
- 19:00: Performances by the opening act and Robbie Williams
- 21:45: Start of the christening ceremony for Mein Schiff Relax
- 22:15 – 22:30: Expected conclusion of the event
- 01:00 (Following Day): Departure of Mein Schiff 5 and Mein Schiff 7
- 18:00 (Following Day): Departure of Mein Schiff Relax
As the first vessel in a new generation of ships, Mein Schiff Relax represents a combination of familiar fleet features and new concepts. Revisions include the outdoor decks, which still feature the distinctive "Marcoon" roof over the 25-meter pool. In the dining sector, there are some new concepts and names for bars and restaurants. A key innovation is the consolidation of the exclusive suite areas – including two restaurants, a lounge, and a sun deck – at the stern of the ship.
During its maiden season, Mein Schiff Relax will operate exclusively in the Western Mediterranean. Until autumn 2025, Palma de Mallorca will serve as the homeport for the newest and largest ship in the TUI Cruises fleet. A special feature is the scheduled overnight stay in Mallorca during guest changeover. This allows all guests more time to explore the port of departure and arrival. For the winter season 2025/26, a change of operating area to the Canary Islands is planned.
