Aroya Cruises Prepares German Market Entry with New Mediterranean Itineraries
Saudi Arabia’s cruise line Aroya Cruises is gearing up to market its offerings in Germany. The company, which launched its first ship, Aroya, in the Red Sea in December 2024, aims to increase its share of international passengers—including German travelers.

Led by industry veteran Jörg Rudolph (formerly of AIDA Cruises and Costa Crociere), the cruise line is establishing a German sales network, typically achieved through a local agency and partnerships with travel operators. While a dedicated German booking website is not yet available, one is expected to launch as part of the expansion.

New Mediterranean Routes from Summer 2025

Currently, the Aroya sails from Jeddah, offering voyages to Egypt and Jordan. However, from late June to early September 2025, the ship will debut in the Mediterranean, homeporting in Istanbul. Cruises will then depart for destinations in Greece and Turkey—a far more convenient starting point for German and European travelers than Saudi Arabia.

The Ship: Refurbished Luxury with High Capacity

Originally built by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, the Aroya underwent an extensive year-long refurbishment before entering service. Stretching 335 meters and accommodating 3,364 passengers (at double occupancy), the vessel combines modern comfort with ample space.

Whether Aroya Cruises’ concept will resonate with German and international travelers remains to be seen. However, the new Mediterranean routes could be a decisive step in attracting a broader audience.
