Thailand Introduces Digital Entry Card from May 2025 – Important Changes for Travelers

Starting May 1, 2025, all travelers to Thailand must use a new digital entry card. This replaces the previous TM6 paper form, which was discontinued last year. The change applies to all travelers, regardless of whether they enter Thailand by plane, ship, or land.

With the introduction of the digital entry card, Thai authorities aim to streamline the entry process and enhance security measures. The card records entry and exit dates as well as the purpose of the stay. This new system is designed to make procedures easier for tourists and business travelers while reducing bureaucratic hurdles.

One major advantage: The digital entry card is free of charge. Additionally, stays of up to 60 days remain visa-free for German citizens and many other nationalities, keeping Thailand an attractive destination for international visitors.

Initially, a tourist fee was also under discussion, but after significant opposition from the tourism industry, this idea was abandoned. Travelers should be prepared to complete the new entry card online before their arrival. This requirement also applies to cruise passengers, whose documents will be checked by local authorities upon arrival at ports or airports.

With these changes, Thailand aims to further strengthen its tourism sector and modernize entry procedures.
