After nearly five decades with the company, AIDA Cruises has said goodbye to Haike Witzke, its long-serving Head of Human Resources, as she enters her well-deserved retirement. Christina Hankel, who joined AIDA in July 2024, will take over the position of Vice President Human Resources Management and has also become part of the company’s management team.

Haike Witzke is an institution at AIDA Cruises: With almost 50 years of service, she witnessed the early days of AIDA's formation in the 1990s, when it emerged from the Deutsche Seereederei. As Head of Human Resources, she played a pivotal role in hiring countless employees for both onshore and onboard roles over the past three decades, shaping the company’s culture and success.

Colleagues from onboard the fleet also sent numerous messages to mark her farewell. Felix Eichhorn, President & CEO of AIDA Cruises, and Steffi Heinicke, Senior Vice President Guest Experience & Onboard Revenue, expressed their gratitude with a heartfelt tribute.

In a LinkedIn post, the company also paid homage to Haike Witzke and thanked her for her decades of dedication.

🙌 END OF EXERCISE 🙌

After almost 50 years at AIDA Cruises, Haike Witzke, our long-standing VP Human Resources Management, is taking her well-deserved retirement.

For thirty years, Haike Witzke was firmly at the helm as Head of Human Resources. She helped write the successful AIDA story and recruited many of the employees on land and on board, as well as the members of the AIDA Cruises Executive Team. She has personally accompanied and supported many of them, including our President Felix Eichhorn and Steffi Heinicke, SVP Guest Experience & OBR, who also thanked her with a personal eulogy. 🥰

Haike Witzke hands over the baton and her valuable experience from so many eventful years to her successor Christina Hankel, who has been with the company since July. She expresses her heartfelt thanks for the extensive handover, the wonderful team she is taking over and the many insights she has been able to gain over the last few months of the joint transition. 👏

A large number of colleagues bid her farewell in moving video messages, including many from on board our #kissmouthfleet. 🫶

It was a heartfelt, very emotional AIDA sight, which Haike Witzke and her guests will certainly remember as a very special #HeartbeatMoment. 💙❤️💛💚
