Collision in Nassau Harbor: Yacht MY Allure Hits Allure of the Seas

On December 11, 2024, an incident occurred in the port of Nassau involving the cruise ship Allure of the Seas from Royal Caribbean International. At the time, the vessel was docked at the pier in accordance with its scheduled itinerary at the popular port in the Bahamas.

During the docking period, a 36.75-meter yacht named MY Allure approached the cruise ship and collided with its side at low speed. The yacht was unable to avoid the cruise ship during a maneuver and drifted into the side of the Allure of the Seas, below the lifeboats. Due to the significant size difference between the two vessels and the yacht’s low speed, the cruise ship is believed to have sustained minimal damage. The Allure of the Seas was able to continue its journey without any delays.

The exact cause of the collision remains unclear, and there is no information yet on whether the yacht sustained major damage. Video footage recorded by passengers on the cruise ship shows the yacht’s antenna being damaged by one of the lifeboats of the Allure of the Seas. It is likely that the cruise ship only suffered minor structural damage. Some passengers on board reported feeling nothing during the incident.
