The Willkomm-Höft in Wedel near Hamburg is an institution of global standing. For over 70 years, since 1952 to be precise, every ship arriving or departing the port of Hamburg has been honored here with a personal welcome or farewell. Uniquely, the flag of the ship's country of origin is raised and the corresponding national anthem is played - a tradition that is unparalleled worldwide.
For all those who would like to experience this special moment, there is a live webcam, which makes it possible to follow the busy shipping traffic moving through the Elbe and towards the port of Hamburg in real time. The webcam has a large fan base, as it provides a fascinating insight into the maritime processes of this important port city. From freighters to cruise ships - you can be there live when Hamburg's gateway to the world opens and closes.
