Due to a technical malfunction at German air traffic control, there will be considerable disruptions at many airports in Germany today, Friday, October 4, 2024. Numerous flights had to be canceled and there were many delays. According to a statement from Fraport, the problem has now been resolved, but around 70 flights were canceled at Frankfurt Airport alone. These cancellations were directly due to the technical difficulties.

A Lufthansa spokesperson stated that long-haul flights were not affected. Nevertheless, there could be further effects on the flight network over the course of Friday.

The disruption caused the loss of flight schedule data and important weather information in particular. This data had to be updated retrospectively in order to restore operations.

Passengers, including those traveling by air to their cruise port, are urged to check the status of their flight on the respective airlines' websites. AIDA Cruises has already informed affected customers via SMS, email and the myAIDA platform and advises travelers to contact the relevant airlines directly for further information.
