Disney Cruise Line (DCL) and the Port of San Diego have extended their partnership long-term until at least 2031. With a guarantee of over one million passengers during this period, the Californian port secures enormous economic stability. For DCL, this move is absolutely crucial to strategically position its steadily growing fleet on the US West Coast and simultaneously relieve the highly frequented ports in Florida.

In the record-breaking 2026–2027 season, two ships will be deployed on the West Coast at the same time. The Disney Wonder will be permanently stationed in San Diego for half a year, while the Disney Magic will supplement the offering in the fall with short trips to Mexico. This temporary dual presence is aimed particularly at families, who can perfectly combine their cruise with a visit to the nearby Disneyland Resort in Anaheim thanks to the ideal geographical location.

Environmental protection also plays a central role in the new agreement. To meet strict Californian environmental regulations, both partners are investing heavily in modern shore power technology. Thanks to mobile power supply systems, the cruise ships can completely shut down their engines while in port. This drastically reduces emissions and significantly protects local air quality.

With this far-reaching contract, Disney is turning San Diego into a major player in the cruise market, strongly supported by modern marketing strategies and close cooperation with the local community. By 2031, the Disney fleet is set to grow to a total of 13 ships, making the Pacific region more important to the company than ever before.
