MSC Euribia 2027: Cancellation of the Kiel Repositioning Cruise and New Winter Route
The new winter itinerary features port-intensive 7-night round trips with calls in Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Madeira, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, and La Palma. Thanks to the so-called "interporting" model, guests have the flexibility to embark at four different ports. This significantly relieves the strain on local infrastructure and flight capacities. From an economic perspective, relocating the mega-ship to the sun-guaranteed Canaries makes perfect sense: the region promises much higher yields during the colder months compared to the often chilly western Mediterranean. This Mediterranean route will instead be taken over by the smaller MSC Fantasia.
Fans of this modern ship class can also look forward to more environmentally friendly operations, as the necessary infrastructure for LNG (liquefied natural gas) is well established in ports like Las Palmas and Cádiz. Kiel remains completely unaffected by these changes for the summer season. The port will continue to serve as the reliable base for the MSC Euribia’s Norwegian Fjord voyages, utilizing its modern shore power facilities for emission-free layovers.
For passengers booked on the canceled October 2027 voyage, the early announcement—made more than a year in advance—keeps stress to a minimum. Under European package travel law, affected guests are entitled to a full refund or can rebook onto an alternative cruise free of charge. However, travelers who booked their flights individually and independently from the cruise line will have to manage the cancellations directly with their respective airlines.
