In July 2026, a unique experience awaits passengers of the AIDAmar. Since a mandatory routine check in the dry dock had to be postponed due to weather conditions, AIDA Cruises is now integrating it into an ongoing voyage. From July 3 to 8, the ship will sail from Warnemünde to the Damen Verolme shipyard in Rotterdam. The special highlight: The guests will remain on board during the entire technical inspection.

While the huge dock is being pumped empty, vacationers can experience up close from the outer decks how work is being done on the hull and propulsion technology. For safety reasons, going ashore independently in the industrial shipyard is not permitted. However, the usual hotel operations on board will continue without restriction thanks to external supply lines. Wellness areas, restaurants, and bars will be available as usual.

To compensate for the lack of shore excursions, the cruise line is transforming the trip into an exclusive "Fan Cruise". Perfectly timed for the final phase of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a comprehensive entertainment program will be offered. Well-known guests such as comedian Matze Knop and former national player Michael Schulz will join vacationers for public viewings and expert talks. This turns the ship itself into the ultimate destination of the journey.

AIDA is being highly accommodating regarding this unscheduled route change. Travelers on the five-day tour will receive a 50 percent discount on the price, as well as a 20 percent voucher for future bookings. Anyone who did not agree with the shipyard stay was allowed to rebook free of charge in advance. Thus, this cruise smartly combines factual, maritime technology with an exciting event.
