On June 7, 2026, AIDA Cruises will celebrate its 30th birthday. Exactly three decades earlier, the concept of the club ship was launched in Rostock-Warnemünde with the first "AIDAcara", permanently changing the cruise market. Moving away from rigid rules and fixed seating arrangements, it shifted towards a relaxed atmosphere with buffets and a wide range of sports. The cruise line is now celebrating this milestone with a massive maritime festival that promises to be exciting for both passengers and onlookers alike.

The highlight of the anniversary will take place on June 7, 2026, in the Port of Hamburg: a huge ship parade. The three cruise ships AIDAperla, AIDAsol, and AIDAprima will meet on the river Elbe. Starting at 7:45 PM, they will form up for a joint departure. Whether guests are standing at the railing on the starboard or port side, they will enjoy a fantastic view of landmarks such as the St. Pauli Piers and the Elbphilharmonie. Tens of thousands of spectators are also expected on land to admire this magnificent photo opportunity.

A continuing trend in the industry is event cruises, and AIDA is using the anniversary for some special concert highlights. The ships are being transformed into floating festivals. On the AIDAperla, the successful girl band No Angels will provide a party atmosphere, while the Hermes House Band and DJ Antoine will take command on the AIDAprima. The AIDAsol, on the other hand, will focus purely on the nautical experience of the ship parade without external guest stars—ideal for lovers of classic cruise traditions.

However, the celebrations are not limited to Hamburg. Events are planned throughout the entire year, for example during the Kiel Week or in Rostock. Festivities will also take place fleet-wide: at 9:00 PM, all ships worldwide will simultaneously raise a glass during a prime-time toast. Special birthday menus, exclusive merchandise featuring the iconic towel design, and the emotional AIDA anniversary song by crew member Claudia Rinner will round off the onboard program.

The outlook for the future is also ambitious in light of the major birthday. A 126-day world cruise with the AIDAsol is planned for the winter of 2026/2027, and the US market, as well as exotic destinations, are coming back into sharper focus. Nevertheless, Northern Europe—with its departures from Hamburg, Kiel, and Warnemünde—remains the reliable heart of the fleet. The concept of "cruising from your own doorstep" continues to score points with convenient travel options, securing AIDA a strong market position.
