The Mein Schiff 6 celebrated its ninth birthday yesterday, on June 1, 2026. However, instead of navigating the Mediterranean Sea, the popular TUI Cruises ship spent this special day docked in the port of Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth), South Africa. The reason for this was an unplanned but highly exciting change of route for the guests.

Due to the tense security situation in the Red Sea, the fleet had to be rerouted on short notice. The cruise line turned this logistical necessity into a virtue and created the exclusive "World Explorer Route". Starting from East Asia, the Mein Schiff 6 embarked on a journey of up to 86 days all the way around the African continent—a true highlight for cruise fans who enjoy spending long periods at sea.

Even on such long passages, the Blue Motion Class ship, which entered service in 2017, offers maximum comfort. With a length of around 295 meters and space for a good 2,500 passengers, it impresses with a generous amount of space. Whether relaxing in one of the exclusive suites with huge outdoor areas, solving tricky puzzles in the innovative escape room, or enjoying the huge gastronomic selection—there is guaranteed to be no boredom on board.

While a completely new ship generation is launching in Europe with the brand-new InTUItion Class (like the upcoming Mein Schiff Flow), the experienced Mein Schiff 6 is now increasingly taking on more exotic destinations. In the future, the ship will be deployed more frequently in Asia and on long transoceanic voyages. Anyone wishing to go on a voyage of discovery on the port or starboard side in distant waters will find her to be the ideal and reliable ship for unforgettable vacation moments.
