Just in time for the anniversary, the ship is showing its best side. This morning at 08:25 AM, the AIDAmar was positioned in the Baltic Sea, only nine nautical miles away from its next destination, Visby. Moving at an economical speed of 14.8 knots, the bridge team maintained a course of 199 degrees. Anyone looking out the window on the port side this morning could already see the silhouette of the Swedish island of Gotland on the horizon. Arrival at the pier is scheduled for approximately 09:00 AM, ensuring guests can begin their shore excursions punctually at 10:00 AM.
On this special day, AIDAmar is led by Captain Manuel Pannzek. He took command in early March and has navigated the ship safely through the Stockholm archipelago—a navigational masterpiece involving over 30,000 islands. The current itinerary, titled "Short Trip to Sweden," travels from Warnemünde via Stockholm to Visby and onward to Karlskrona. These short routes are extremely popular, as they often generate higher per-capita spending on board and are ideal for cruise newcomers.
Strategically, the cruise line is fully committed to the "Safe Baltic" strategy in 2026. Instead of calling at ports in the far east of the Baltic Sea, the focus is on politically stable and attractive destinations in Sweden. This not only saves fuel due to shorter distances but also offers passengers maximum safety. After an eight-hour stay in Visby, AIDAmar will set sail again tonight at 06:00 PM, heading for Karlskrona before returning to its home port of Warnemünde on May 14.
