Cast Off for the Norwegian Luna: New NCL Cruise Ship Christened in Miami

On March 27, 2026, the Norwegian Luna was officially christened in PortMiami. Godmother and street artist ELLE, who also designed the expansive hull artwork, led the maritime ceremony. The island is currently undergoing massive expansion and, in addition to a new pier and sprawling lagoons, will feature the gigantic "Great Tides Waterpark," scheduled to open in the summer of 2026.

Technologically, the new build sets new standards with its Wärtsilä 25DF dual-fuel engines. Thanks to the innovative NextDF technology, methane slip during liquefied natural gas (LNG) operation is drastically reduced, allowing NCL to significantly surpass European environmental regulations.
