MSC Poesia: Luxury Upgrade and Yacht Club for Alaska 2026

The MSC Poesia has been at the Palumbo Malta Shipyard since February 19, 2026, for an extensive modernization. Contrary to initial rumors, the vessel did not arrive from the Caribbean but directly followed its Northern Europe season via Hamburg and Southampton. To meet the demanding schedule for this massive overhaul, passenger operations were halted ten days earlier than originally planned.

The centerpiece of this dry-dock phase is the integration of the MSC Yacht Club. This "ship-within-a-ship" concept brings the signature luxury experience to the Musica class for the first time. The upgrade includes 63 new suites, a dedicated restaurant, a private lounge, and an exclusive pool deck located on the upper decks, enhancing both the port and starboard profiles of the vessel.

In addition to the luxury enhancements, the refit focuses on ecological upgrades to meet the stringent environmental regulations of its new destination: Alaska. The ship is being equipped with shore-to-ship power connectivity and advanced wastewater treatment systems. Furthermore, popular dining venues such as the "Butcher’s Cut" steakhouse and a reimagined "Kaito Sushi Bar" are being permanently integrated.

Following the completion of the works in April 2026, MSC Poesia will begin a spectacular repositioning voyage across the Atlantic and through the Panama Canal toward Seattle. Starting in May 2026, she will embark on her inaugural Alaska season, marking MSC Cruises' first permanent presence in the Pacific Northwest.
