As announced by the Chinese shipping company Blue Dream Cruises, the operational service of the cruise ship, currently sailing under the name Blue Dream Melody, will end effective this coming Sunday, January 4, 2026. All voyages planned from this date onwards have been cancelled, and the refund process for customer funds is already underway.

While the company officially cites necessary "hardware upgrades," industry observers interpret the move as an economic emergency brake. The ship recently suffered from low occupancy on short routes between Beihai and Vietnam, leading to a dramatic collapse in prices.

Factually, the end appears to be sealed as of today: The Blue Dream Melody returned to the port of Beihai this morning (January 2, 2026) from its final voyage. Following passenger disembarkation, current tracking data shows the ship has already left the port and is now on a repositioning voyage to an unknown destination. Whether the 24-year-old former "AIDA mother" will find a new buyer or faces the scrapyard remains completely open at this stage.
