Filming for the new episodes took place last winter, this time taking viewers to Asia. The story centers on the crew led by Captain Burkhard Müller, who not only manage the demanding daily life on board but also handle an impressive guest changeover involving 600 new passengers in Bali, Indonesia.
For the new season, the production has once again enlisted a mix of casted travelers and celebrity faces. On board is "Jungle Queen" Djamila Rowe, who is embarking on her first vacation in 20 years with her 15-year-old daughter Jayda and friend, consumer journalist Ron Perduss. Also featured are designer Uwe Herrmann, known from the show "Zwischen Tüll und Tränen" (Between Tulle and Tears), with his partner Susann, and "Big Brother" veteran Hanka Rackwitz, who celebrates her 56th birthday on board with her sister Antje.
The format is produced by the company Bewegte Zeiten, which already made a name for itself with the successful ARD series "Verrückt nach Meer" (Crazy about the Sea), producing 500 episodes over many years on Phoenix Reisen ships. Compared to its ARD predecessor, the VOX production places a stronger emphasis on reality TV elements. Each episode has a net runtime of approximately 90 minutes.
