The newest Icon Class ship from Royal Caribbean International, the Star of the Seas, has begun its journey to the Caribbean, concluding its final stay in European waters for the time being. From July 24 to 27, 2025, the ocean liner was docked in the port of Cadiz, Spain. During this scheduled stop, the ship not only refueled but also took on essential equipment and furnishings. A significant logistical task was the delivery and distribution of thousands of real plants, which will transform the ship's Central Park into a lush green oasis.

During the Atlantic crossing, the ship is in an intensive preparation phase for its premiere. The crew of approximately 2,350 members is using the days at sea to apply the final touches. Tasks include installing 10,300 pieces of art, perfecting service procedures in all dining venues, and rehearsing exclusive shows. Simultaneously, the crew is testing all onboard activities to ensure a seamless experience for future guests. The first Caribbean destination, the port of Ponce in Puerto Rico, is scheduled to be reached next Monday, August 4, 2025.

Starting August 16, 2025, the Star of the Seas will officially begin welcoming guests. From its future homeport of Port Canaveral, Florida, the ship will be ready to accommodate up to 7,600 passengers per voyage. The inaugural phase will consist of several short cruises, including trips to the cruise line's private island, Coco Cay in the Bahamas. Subsequently, from the end of next month, the Star of the Seas will be permanently deployed on week-long itineraries, alternating between the Western and Eastern Caribbean.

The ship's dimensions underscore its status as a giant of the seas: with a length of 365 meters, a width of 65 meters, and a total of 2,805 cabins and suites, the Star of the Seas sets new standards. The innovative concept of its eight neighborhoods – Chill Island, Thrill Island, Surfside, AquaDome, The Hideaway, Central Park, Royal Promenade, and the exclusive Suite Neighborhood – ensures that the diverse preferences and desires of all guests are met.
