Those planning a sea journey from Hamburg this coming weekend, especially on ships like the AIDAperla or the MS Hamburg, should prepare for significant traffic disruptions. The Hanseatic city will be affected by several major events and a critical infrastructure measure, which will drastically increase traffic volume.

Three concerts by renowned musician Ed Sheeran and the traditional Schlagermove are expected to attract tens of thousands of visitors. Simultaneously, another full closure of the Autobahn 7 is imminent. The affected section is between the Hamburg-Stellingen and Hamburg-Heimfeld interchanges, which also includes the Elbe Tunnel. This closure, which will occur in both directions, is necessary for the reconstruction of the tunnel control center, according to Autobahn GmbH.

The closure is scheduled to begin on Friday evening at 10:00 PM and is set to end on Monday morning at 05:00 AM, lasting 55 hours. Although detours will be signposted, significant restrictions and longer travel times are expected due to the confluence of major events and the start of holidays in some federal states. It is strongly advised to switch to public transport or allow ample time for arrival to reach the ship's berth on schedule.
