The naming ceremony for the newest fleet member took place during a two-day christening voyage, which included a scenic journey through the Danish South Sea. The main ceremony, featuring an impressive light show and a grand fireworks display, was held on Saturday evening in Kiel Fjord. The event was themed under the symbolic motto "The Seventh Heaven at Sea." Environmental Officer Fenia Kalachani of Mein Schiff 7 had the honor of being the godmother, successfully ensuring the traditional champagne bottle shattered against the ship's hull.
With the commissioning of Mein Schiff 7, the long-standing collaboration between TUI Cruises and the Finnish Meyer Turku shipyard concluded for the time being. Between 2014 and 2024, the shipyard delivered a total of seven new builds to the Hamburg-based cruise line. Current fleet additions for TUI Cruises are now sourced from Fincantieri shipyards in Italy. In February 2025, the Mein Schiff Relax, the prototype of a completely new generation of cruise ships, was already delivered. A sister ship, the Mein Schiff Flow, is announced for 2026.
Throughout the current summer, Mein Schiff 7 will be stationed in Kiel until mid-August, alongside the largely identical Mein Schiff 1. From there, it regularly sets course for destinations in Norway, Iceland, and the Baltic Sea. It is expected that the ship's birthday will be fittingly celebrated onboard during the current Norway voyage. In late summer, the new build, commissioned in 2024, will relocate its homeport to Rostock-Warnemünde in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, where further cruises to Norway and the Baltic Sea will commence until early October.
