AIDAluna: Weather Conditions Force Course Correction – Sortland Instead of Lofoten
AIDAluna, which has been on a 19-day cruise titled "Highlights at the Arctic Circle" since May 25, 2025, was forced to cancel a planned stop in the Lofoten Islands. The ship was originally scheduled to call at Gravdal near Leknes on Thursday, May 29. Due to predicted unfavorable weather conditions, particularly strong winds and high waves in the afternoon, the safe operation of tender boats to transport guests back to the ship could not be guaranteed. The ship's command therefore decided not to call at Gravdal. Instead, AIDAluna set course for Sortland on the island of Langøya, part of the Vesterålen archipelago. The excursion program was adapted to the new destination. The onward journey is expected to proceed as planned after the stay in Sortland. Prior to this, after departing from Hamburg and a day at sea, the ship had already visited Bergen in Norway.
AIDAbella: Destination Port Changed – Invergordon Instead of Aberdeen
AIDAbella, on a cruise from May 25 to June 6, 2025, with destinations in Denmark, Great Britain, and Norway, also had to make an itinerary change. After scheduled calls in Skagen (Denmark) and Newcastle (England), the originally planned port of Aberdeen in Scotland could not be called at. Instead, AIDAbella docked in Invergordon, also in Scotland, on Wednesday, May 28. Shore excursions organized by AIDA Cruises were adjusted to the new port. The ship's voyage will continue as planned from Invergordon to its next destination, Kirkwall on the Orkney Islands, followed by Scrabster as the last Scottish port. Subsequently, Norwegian destinations such as Ålesund, Eidfjord, and Sandnes are on the agenda. AIDAbella is stationed in Kiel during the current summer season, primarily undertaking 14-day voyages to Great Britain, Norway, or the Baltic Sea region from there.
