After a four-year hiatus, AIDA Cruises is once again setting its sights on the East Coast of the United States. For 2026, the cruise line has announced a total of seven different voyages that will take passengers to iconic destinations such as New York City, as well as along the North American coast and into the Caribbean. The "AIDAdiva" will operate these sailings between August and November 2026. A particular advantage for German travelers is the option to embark on one of these cruises directly from a German port.

High Demand Expected – Early Booking Recommended

Experience suggests that these exclusive routes will be in high demand, especially since the cruise line is offering only seven dates. Those interested in a US cruise with AIDA should therefore consider booking promptly. This is particularly true for solo travelers, as the allotment of single cabins is traditionally limited and often sells out quickly. Once the quota is exhausted, there is usually only a slim chance of securing a spot via a waiting list. Below you will find details on the ports of call and the costs of the US cruises. For last-minute decision-makers, a look at AIDA's current last-minute offers might also be worthwhile.

The Itineraries in Detail:

  1. Transatlantic Crossing: From Warnemünde to New York The 17-day transatlantic journey, "Transatlantic from Warnemünde to New York," marks the repositioning of the "AIDAdiva" to its new operational area. The voyage begins on August 25, 2026, in Warnemünde, Germany. En route to New York City, the ship will make a stop in Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland. Subsequently, three Canadian ports – St. John's, Halifax, and Saint John – are on the agenda before "AIDAdiva" calls on Boston, Massachusetts, and Newport, Rhode Island, in the USA. The journey concludes after 17 days at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal in New York City, where the AIDAdiva will be stationed for further voyages until November 11, 2026. This route offers German vacationers the benefit of starting their journey in Germany. Prices for this cruise start at €2,515 per person. For single cabins, which have limited availability, a supplement of 70 percent is applied.
  2. "Canada & Indian Summer from New York" Similar to the cherry blossom season in Japan, the Indian Summer in North America is an impressive natural spectacle, characterized by clear skies, pleasant temperatures, and intense autumn foliage. "AIDAdiva" embarks from New York City at the perfect time for this phenomenon. The itinerary first leads to Halifax in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. Other ports of call include Boston, Portland, and Newport. This twelve-day cruise is offered on two dates in 2026: departing on September 11 or October 5. The price per person starts at €1,770.
  3. "Florida & Bahamas from New York" For travelers preferring warmer climes, AIDA offers an itinerary that first visits the Bahamas. "AIDAdiva" then heads to Miami and Port Canaveral in Florida before returning to New York City via Norfolk, Virginia. This twelve-day cruise can be booked from €1,840 per person and departs on September 23, 2026.
  4. "Florida, Maryland & Bahamas from New York" A more extensive alternative is the 14-day "Florida, Maryland & Bahamas from New York" itinerary. In addition to the destinations of the shorter Florida-Bahamas trip, this route also includes calls at Newport, Rhode Island, and Baltimore, Maryland. Departure is on October 17 from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal. This two-day longer option is available from €2,245 per person based on double occupancy of an inside cabin; other cabin categories are priced accordingly higher.
  5. From New York via Florida to the Caribbean As "AIDAdiva" will spend the winter months in the Caribbean, a final voyage from New York via Florida to the Caribbean is also available for booking. This itinerary includes calls at Caribbean islands such as Grand Turk, St. Maarten, and Antigua, and concludes in Jamaica. The cost for this 22-day cruise starts at €4,720 per person. The travel package is included in this price. As with all other US routes, the supplement for solo travelers in single cabins is 70 percent.

Assessment and Outlook

After a four-year absence from the US market, AIDA's newly unveiled itineraries, while not fundamentally surprising, are likely to be met with great enthusiasm by many cruise fans. A potential point of criticism for some travelers might be the absence of Québec from the schedule. However, a significant advantage is that "AIDAdiva" will, as in the past, dock directly at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal in New York City. This allows passengers, for example, to walk to Times Square in less than 30 minutes.

In comparison, the cruise line TUI Cruises, with its "Mein Schiff" fleet, operates its US voyages from the more distant port of Bayonne, New Jersey.

The "AIDAdiva," the oldest vessel in the current AIDA fleet, underwent extensive modernization between February and March 2025 as part of the "AIDA Evolution" program. This refurbishment ensures the ship will comply with the specific regulations for the planned US cruises.
